What are the best product management conferences and events?

In the grand scheme of things, product management is a new field with relatively few dedicated conferences and events. But in the last couple years we’ve seen an emergence of some really high-quality ones you can’t miss. While there’s no doubt a number of industry-specific conferences for product teams, we’ve focused primarily on industry-agnostic ones for this list. We’ve also compiled a list of product-related boot camps and meetups for you. Descriptions are taken directly from the organizer websites.

Re/code

Re/code is a technology and business media organization founded by Kara Swisher, formerly of The Wall Street Journal and All Things Digital. They host a series of events focused on media, enterprise, mobile, and general product.

Upcoming events:

<code/enterprise> – on November 14-15, 2016 in CA, the Code/Enterprise series offers insights and analysis to guide executives and entrepreneurs toward the issues and players that matter most to enterprise technology. Last year’s speakers included Martin Chavez, CIO of Goldman Sachs.

<code/commerce> – on October 25, 2016 and December 6, 2016 in CA, Code/Mobile examines how an increasingly mobile world is changing the landscape of business, and showcases companies that are leading that revolution. Speakers include John Collison, Co-Founder and President, Stripe.

<code/media> – on February 13-14th, 2017 in CA, Recode senior editor Peter Kafka, in conjunction with Kara Swisher, host this exclusive conference which features candid, unscripted onstage interviews with the best-known names in the business. Over a two-day period, attendees will hear great stories, learn about important news first, and connect with the industry’s most prominent leaders.

<code/enterprise> – on September 29th 2015 in NY, the Code/Enterprise series offers insights and analysis to guide executives and entrepreneurs toward the issues and players that matter most to enterprise technology. Speakers include Martin Chavez, CIO of Goldman Sachs.

<code/mobile> – on October 7-8 2015 in CA, Code/Mobile examines how an increasingly mobile world is changing the landscape of business, and showcases companies that are leading that revolution. Speakers include Glenn Lurie, President and CEO of AT&T Mobility.

<code/media> – on September 9th in NY, and hosted by Peter Kafka, code/media brings together media movers and shakers for an evening of networking and candid conversation.

<code conference> – Code Conference is where top industry influencers in media and technology gather for in-depth conversations about the impact of digital technology on our lives and our businesses, today and in the future. Details on Code Conference 2016 will be announced later this year.

Mind the Product

Mind the Product is an international product community that regularly hosts meetups and conferences for product managers.

Upcoming events:

MTPConSF – returning in 2017, with details to be announced, the 2016 event featured 1,200 product people from all over the world discussing the art of building products people love.

MTPConLondon – on September 30 2016, this conference brings together product leaders from around the world to explore the intersection of design, technology and business, inspiring you to build better products. Last year’s speakers included Dave Coplin, Chief Envisioning Officer of Microsoft.

Past events:

MTPConSF – returning in 2016, with details to be announced, the 2015 event featured 650 product people from 13 countries discussing the art of building products people love.

MTPConLondon – on September 10-11 2015, this conference brings together product leaders from around the world to explore the intersection of design, technology and business, inspiring you to build better products. Speakers include Dave Coplin, Chief Envisioning Officer of Microsoft.

Industry: The Product Conference

Held September 15th and 16th 2016 in Cleveland, Industry is divided into three tracks — Build (e.g., ideation, prototyping), Launch (e.g., customer development, product design) and Scale (e.g., mass distribution, growth strategies). Speakers include Ken Norton, Partner, Google Ventures. Get a $100 discount using the code “FriendOfAlpha”.

The Market Research Event

October 17-20th, 2016 in Boca Raton, The Market Research Event is the world’s largest market research event. Over 1,300 leaders across market research, consumer insights, strategy, innovation, marketing, analytics, customer experience and more will unite to shape 2016 and beyond. Speakers include John Mackey, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, Whole Foods Market.

November 2nd – 4th in Orlando, The Market Research Event is the world’s largest market research event. Over 1,300 leaders across market research, consumer insights, strategy, innovation, marketing, analytics, customer experience and more will unite to shape 2016 and beyond. Insight Innovation eXchange

Insight Innovation eXchange is a global event series focused on advancing the business value of insights. It showcases the best from inside and outside of the market research realm with a focus on technology innovation, thought leadership, collaboration and networking.

An Event Apart

An Event Apart is the one web design conference where groundbreaking techniques break first. Events bring together twelve of the leading minds in web design and development for two days of inspiration and enlightenment, plus an optional “A Day Apart” third day focused on a single, essential topic.

Enterprise UX

The Enterprise UX 2016 conference was dedicated to delivering useful, delightful, and humane experiences to people who work for and in enterprises. Previous speakers included Bill Scott, VP of Business Engineering at Paypal, and MJ Broadbent, Design Director at GE. 2017 details have yet to be announced.

Interaction

Interaction Design Association hosts an annual conference called Interaction. The next is February 6th – 8th, 2017 in New York City, and aims to raise the question “what’s next in design, for professionals, consultants, studios and enterprises alike?” Past speakers have included Tim Brown of IDEO, and Kara Swisher of Re/Code.

Gel Conference

Hosted by Mark Hurst, Founder of Creative Good, Gel Conference is A conference for leaders and innovators dedicated to customer experience. Next year’s event is scheduled for May 11th – 12th in New York.

The Product Summit

August 15th 2015 in Oakland, The Product Summit brings together product professionals, developers, designers, managers and marketers with entrepreneurs, makers, inventors, and SMBs to share and learn the best practices of building and managing their products across all industries. Speakers include Nir Eyal and Kimberly Wiefling.

Lean Startup Conference

Organized by Eric Ries himself, Lean Startup Conference brings together over 2,000 diverse thinkers and Lean Startup practitioners from all over the world to share ideas and projects that are shaping the future of business. The Lean Startup Conference, a gathering for entrepreneurs, corporate innovators, and thought leaders from across sectors and structures. The next event is October 31st – November 6th and past speakers included Ryan Hoover, Founder of Product Hunt, and Mark Little, CTO of General Electric.

Product Management Festival

Hosted November 16th – 17th in Switzerland, Product Management Festival brings the newest information and innovation in product management from leading experts across the world. Some speakers include Giovanni Iachell from LinkedIn and Jen Dante from Netflix.

The Innovation Enterprise

The Innovation Enterprise hosts a series of events on topics ranging from analytics, strategy, big data and finance. The next event is in San Francisco and features product speakers from Reebok, GoPro, and Halo.

Productized Conference

October 19th – 21st in Lisbon, Productized Conference brings together international product people to share insights on product development. Sessions are on topics including the origins of the product manager and experience design. Past speakers included Marit Coehoor from Zilver and Brian Donohue from Intercom.

Habit Summit

Habit Summit is all about building consumer habits. Learn how to build more engaging products, dive into consumer psychology, design, and behavioral science on March 22nd at Stanford University. Speakers include Nir Eyal, and Merci Victoria Grace, Product Lead at Slack.

BASiS

BASiS is a one-day conference (April 28, 2017) powered by UserVoice and designed for anyone who has to make decisions based on data. Broken into three components (Learn, Act, and Connect), BASiS speakers include the CEO of Price Intelligently and the author of The Lean Product Playbook.

Silicon Valley Product Group

The Silicon Valley Product Group (SVPG) was created to share our lessons learned and knowledge of best practices with our clients. Our four partners are all industry veterans, who have each held executive level positions at major Silicon Valley firms where they have been instrumental in the development of leading products. We are not career consultants; we started SVPG to share what we’ve learned.

ConveyUX

The Emerald City is busting at the seams with all the high-tech development. Companies big and small are opening offices here and the user experience scene is exploding. If you haven’t been to Seattle before, this is a great time to get introduced. It might rain a bit in February but the temperatures are always mild. ConveyUX is a great opportunity for local and visitors to get together and enjoy the city while we hash about UX.

ProductCamp

ProductCamp is a free, user-driven, collaborative “unconference” for Product Managers and Marketers. Now organizing in a city near you.
